At Proud Parents, our mission is to provide professional postpartum care and support for parents from the moment they welcome their new baby. We believe that every family deserves a healthy and happy first few months home with baby, and we are committed to making that a reality for our clients. Supporting queer and marginalized communities is a high priority of ours.
Hillary has had a lifelong passion for caring for babies and families. She has been providing postpartum support to families in the Tampa/St. Pete, FL area since 2022. Hillary is certified with ProDoula as a postpartum and infant care doula.
Hillary believes in the importance of a nurturing support system and has found success in empowering new parents to confidently care for their baby and family through difficult transitions. Her calm and confident nature allows her to meet people where they are and support them in vulnerable times. She understands each family has their own values, traditions, and dynamics and finds it important to stay mindful of this when caring for families.
My husband and I had the pleasure of working with Hillary as our postpartum doula in 2022.
Hillary is a compassionate, empathetic, and nurturing caregiver. Like all new parents, my husband and I were very nervous about bringing home a new baby. However, there was an extra layer of anxiety due to our past fertility treatments and losing our first baby through miscarriage.
Hillary’s expertise made us feel at ease as we navigated a difficult postpartum period. She cared for our baby, but also cared for us and helped us become more confident and better parents. She answered all our questions and helped us work through the challenges that we faced.
One example is when we had to start supplementing breastfeeding with formula because I was not producing enough milk. Prior to my son’s birth, I knew that this was a scenario that we may encounter, but when it happened, I was devastated. I was so overwhelmed by everything – feeding with a bottle, cleaning bottles, deciding which formula to use, and figuring out how to use my breast pump. Hillary’s compassionate approach helped me frame the situation in a positive light and she helped us set up a combination feeding environment that worked for all of us and which we grew to enjoy.
Hillary will be a blessing to any family who has the pleasure of working with her.
Our family was privileged to work with Hillary in the beginning in January of 2022 when my son was just a few weeks old. As new parents and no family local to the area, we found ourselves needing some help during the sleepless nights (and days). We hired Hillary for relief and she came in professional, confident, organized, but most importantly, nurturing.
Some more specific things she helped with in the early days were crucial to us as parents. I was overwhelmed and couldn’t figure out the baby wearing wrap. She figured it out and actually taught me. I ended up loving wearing him in that wrap and it felt like such a bonding experience with the baby but also gave me some freedom I was craving as a new mom. I wouldn’t have taken it out of the box if it wasn’t for her. Hillary always came in and jumped into a place of helping without being asked. When we had struggles soothing the baby, she gave alternate options to rocking, patting his back, feeding positions. Many times she researched and came back with even more solutions. One example was the wake windows for a newborn. We were getting inconsistent stretches of sleep and she really helped us troubleshoot in order to get him on a schedule.
We would enthusiastically recommend Hillary for any position working with children, but especially babies.
We feel so lucky to have found Hillary during our second postpartum phase. We wish we would've had her support the first time around! She has such knowledge with many levels of newborn care, as well as such a calming presence. We were fortunate enough to have her come several nights a week during our son's first 10 weeks home. We couldn't recommend her enough. If you're considering hiring a postpartum doula, Hillary is the one!
